We are looking for a Plant Manager to provide leadership and operations direction for our lean manufacturing facility in San Diego to ensure a safe, efficient, productive, and economical manufacturing operation.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assure a clean & safe working environment compliant to all, local, state, and federal regulations as well as corporate requirements.
  • Establish Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Cash (SQDCC) goals consistent with corporate requirements. Assure goals are achieved as monitored by the site scorecard.
  • Participate in the daily Gemba process to provide top level support to the operation.
  • Establish and maintain a monthly SIOP process to assure effective order fulfillment.
  • Establish monthly shipping goals for the site and provide revisions as necessary.
  • Work directly with planning & operations to assure manufacturing schedules and production plans are effective and met making effective utilization of employees, equipment, and materials within required cost and quality standards to meet our customer’s expectations.
  • Provide strategic direction consistent with senior management goals through the established annual Strategic Deployment process.
  • Champion waste reduction through lean implementation at all levels of the organization creating an environment of continuous improvement including cost effective procedures, systems, tooling, equipment, etc. to continually improve organizational productivity.
  • Champion the site Transformation Plan to achieve site improvement goals.
  • Work with finance to establish an Annual Operating Plan.
  • Ensure continuous development of the site through effective talent acquisition, employee development, and performance management as well as maintaining open lines of communications to all employees.
  • Work with Sales & Marketing to respond to customer and market requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with supply management as well as suppliers.
  • Support organizational product development initiatives.

Education and Experience:

  • BA or BS in business, engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ideally at least 5 years in a manufacturing operations leadership role or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • MBA an asset.

  • Knowledge of process improvement concepts and methods along with the flexibility and adaptability to accept, support, and deploy new processes in a changing business environment.
  • Skill to create and implement plans aligned with the division’s strategic vision.
  • Skilled at effective communications at both technical and leadership levels. Skills must include good interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills, and ability to understand information and ideas as presented.
  • Skill in developing and delivering effective presentations.
  • Skill in conflict resolution including the ability to address difference of opinions or facts and use the most appropriate method to reach an effective solution.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with business partners.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize time/workload and delegate work in order to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively coach and foster staff growth and development.
  • Ability to evaluate and motivate personnel.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstances; must be able to thrive in a constantly changing business environment.
