The Home Chef Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the Production department and managing multiple Shift Managers in a multi-shift environment with 200 + full-time associates on a daily basis. The production manager is responsible for directly leading and managing the production team and partnering across departments within the plant to convert raw product into meal kits efficiently and with high quality.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Coaching & Development:

  • ●Builds strong working relationships with all Shift Managers and continually strives to help shift managers grow and improve in their roles
  • ●Sets clear performance targets for Shift Managers and discusses progress against plan on a daily basis
  • ●Ensures Shifts Managers are effectively utilizing all standard tools
  • ●Provides both positive and developmental feedback to shift managers
  • ●Assists shift managers with problem solving issues impacting production
  • ●Helps develop people management skills of shift managers, providing guidance on developing effective supervisors
  • ●As necessary, resolves personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action while treating employees with respect through the process.

Production Planning:

  • ●Takes ownership of production plan for both upcoming and current menu
  • ●Partners with procurement team to establish delivery timelines for all products on upcoming menus
  • ●Sets daily shift-level production targets for labeling, portioning, meal bagging, and boxing
  • ●Proactively collaborates with other plants to share best practices
  • ●Continually learns from experience to improve production KPIs over time

Food & Employee Safety:

  • Ensures all Home Chef GMP’s and operational guidelines are being followed and enforced.
  • Follows and adheres to all safety protocols set forth by Home Chef including but not limited to: Lock out/Tag out procedure, instilling and ensuring a safe work environment, housekeeping in all areas, ensuring all employees are follow proper safety guidelines
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; ensures adherence to established policies and procedures
  • Responsible for managing direct labor on a weekly basis, including but not limited to scheduling to meet labor KPIs and making adjustments as needed to ensure 100% order fulfillment
  • Provides shift level labor targets to shift managers and provides feedback to shift managers on labor performance from previous day
  • Owns communication of weekly KPIs to department managers and ensures relevant KPIs are being appropriately communicated to supervisors leads, and hourlies

SOPs & Audits

  • ●Partners with Continuous Improvement (CI) team in development of new SOPs and modifications to existing SOPs
  • ●Knows and drives adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for production, warehouse, and quality departments
  • ●Supports SOPs audit program as defined and conducted by the CI team
  • ●Owns all plant specific Production SOPs and ensures documents are kept up to date in SOP database

  • ●Develops and maintains strong working relationship with plant manager and Home Chef leadership, across other departments (warehouse, maintenance, QA, HR, and procurement), and within production team
  • ●Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies

KPI Management

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of proven direct supervision and management experience (Food Manufacturing preferred)
  • Associate’s / Bachelor's preferred
  • Experience in food manufacturing highly desirable
  • Experience with Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict, build consensus, and facilitate problem-solving and collaboration amongst cross functional teams

  • Must be able and willing to work in refrigerated coolers (~38⁰F)
  • Must be able to operate all standard food processing equipment including but not limited to conveyors, motor controls, baggers, tape machines, label applicators
